Resolution

  • First, ensure you have not reached the SAM license cap for your license tier. Go to Settings > All Settings > License Details. Ensure the licensed components are below your allowed number of components.
  • Once the license count has been verified. You will need to perform the license reset steps below.
  1. Deactivate ALL product licenses under Settings > All Settings > License Manager.
  2. RDP to the main SolarWinds Platform polling engine.
  3. Open SolarWinds Platform Service Manager.
  4. Shut down the SolarWinds Orion Module Engine.
  5. Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.
  6. Navigate to licensing folder with this command:
    • cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Licensing" (for 2020.2.6 and below)
    • cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\" (for 2022.3 and above)
Note: if the install directory is not on the C drive. Type the letter followed by a colon to navigate in the cmd prompt (e.g. D: - this gets to the D drive)
  1. Enter the command: Migration.exe /ExpireAll
  2. Restart all services with the SolarWinds Platform Service Manager.
  3. Navigate to Settings > All Settings > License Manager. Reactivate all licenses. Licenses are obtained in the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
