Discover AppInsight for SQL on clusters needs VIP
AppInsight for SQL does not discover on nodes as expected due to VIP and DNS requirements.

Overview
To successfully discover AppInsight for SQL on clusters, SAM must be communicating with the virtual IP (VIP), not the cluster member IP. When running discovery, SAM uses DNS resolving to verify the IP for the cluster. If the DNS resolving fails during discovery, AppInsight for SQL will not be discovered on the node for the cluster even if the provided IP is the VIP.
If this occurs, you can still manually create the application, assigning the AppInsight for SQL template to the node, and continuing with polling normally. This limitation only is required for discovery. The check is performed strictly during discovery, not polling.

Resolution
If you encounter an issue with discovery, you can manually add the node and AppInsight for SQL template to the node for monitoring.
Make sure to provide the VIP for a cluster for discovery to correctly locate and monitor AppInsight for SQL on a node. This is strictly required for a DNS resolving check to ensure SAM is communicating with the VIP.
