Overview

If all Hardware Health sensors are disabled, the Hardware Health status will be flagged as Unknown, thus causing some confusion that the issue is at the Node, but this behavior is by design.
If at least one of the sensor is enabled and UP, the status of Hardware Health will be UP.

Cause

In the current implementation, the Hardware Health status is not the status of a Hardware Health poller, but the overall status of all monitored sensors. If all sensors are disabled, then there is no way to calculate the status and it is Unknown.

Resolution

If you are facing issues with Unknown Hardware Heath Status, check to ensure that Hardware Health sensors belonging to the Node are not disabled.
  1. Navigate to the Node Details page by selecting Settings > Manage Nodes > click the node in question.
  2. Find the Current Hardware Health widget - this is on the left column by default.
  3. Select Manage Sensors.
  4. Confirm the Enabled status for sensors on the node - if all are disabled, select at least one and Enable it.
