Disable a component monitor in a SAM application monitor

This article describes how to disable a component monitor that is part of an application monitor assigned to a node in SAM. Disabling component monitors that you do not need can reduce the amount of licenses consumed if you have a component-based SAM license.

Overview

This article describes how to disable to component in SAM. This is performed for several reasons including reducing your licensed component count, you no longer wish to monitor the object, etc. Disabled components do not count toward your license count in SAM.

Note: Due to the complexity of AppInsight templates, some component monitors in AppInsight application monitors cannot be disabled. Also, you cannot add component monitors to AppInsight templates.

Resolution

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Click SAM Settings.
  3. Click Manage Application Monitors.
  4. Select the Application Monitor you want and click Edit Properties.
  5. Select the component you wish to disable. 
  6. Click the disable button at the top of the list of components. 
  7. Click submit at the bottom to save changes to the application.
