Overview

When Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is enabled, some applications cannot run successfully. The article discusses how you can disable Data Execution Prevention.

These steps require a reboot.

  1. Log in to your SolarWinds Orion server as a local Administrator.
  2. In the File Explorer, right-click This PC (or Computer), and then click Properties > Advanced System Settings.
    To open Advanced System Settings, you can also search for Advanced System Settings in the Search field in the taskbar.
  3. In System Properties, activate the Advanced tab and click Settings in the Performance section.
  4. On Performance Options, activate the Data Execution Prevention tab.
  5. Choose one of the following options:
    • Turn on DEP for essential programs and services only - DEP may block non-essential programs and services.  (Recommended)
    • Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select - Add the SolarWinds application/process that stopped working to the exception list.
      • Note that this option turns on DEP for all programs and devices unless the particular processes and services are added
  6. Click OK.
  7. Reboot your computer.

All SolarWinds programs should run successfully. If you were directed to this article by the installer, you should not receive a DEP warning when you run the installer.
