With NPM, you can monitor devices that respond to ICMP, SNMP, WMI, API, or send Syslog/Traps messages.

  • If your device responds to ICMP, you can see the device status (Up/Down) in the Orion Web Console
  • If your device responds to SNMP, you can see statistics covered by OIDs that NPM can poll from the device. 

To find out what information (OIDs) a device sends, contact the device vendor.

To poll an OID that is not supported out-of-the-box, you can create a custom monitor  to display the information in the Orion Web Console.
