Device View displays wrong SFP ports for Cisco 3750 or 2960 switches

If the Device View for Cisco 3750x or 2960x switches displays incorrect SFP ports, make sure the correct SFP ports are monitored on the switch.

Cause

Some devices do not have built-in SFP ports, but provide pluggable modules with SFP ports. These devices report all interfaces the device can offer, even those that are not plugged in. NPM  counts only with 4 SFP ports and displays the first ports it finds. 

Example: 

Device Cisco Catalyst 3750X-48T-S can have multiple different modules for SFP ports. 
A module can have four Gigabit SFP ports or two TenGigabit SFP ports. The Device View always displays the first four SFP ports reported by the device.
If you use a module with only two TenGigabit SFP ports and monitor all interfaces, the Device View displays incorrect interfaces. because it displays interfaces relevant only for the first four Gigabit SFP ports.


Resolution

To resolve the issue, select the correct SFP ports to be monitored:

  1. Go to the node details for the node with incorrectly displayed SFP ports and click List Resources in the Management widget.

  2. In the list of resources, scroll down to the SFP ports, make sure correct ports are selected, and save your changes.

The Device View now displays correct ports.
