How to delete a row from the database using Database Manager in the SolarWinds Platform

This describes how to delete a row from the SolarWinds Platform database via Database Manager.

Overview

Before you begin, it is highly recommended to know what row you wish to delete and consider the impact it may have on your SolarWinds environment.

The same steps can also be used when editing a specific column in the database.

Resolution

  1. Before you begin, please take a database backup.
  2. RDP to the SolarWinds Platform Server.
  3. Stop all SolarWinds Services on the SolarWinds Platform Service Manager on all SolarWinds Platform servers.
  4. Launch Database Manager (Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Platform > Database Manager.
  5. Select Add Orion Server, this will attach the SolarWinds Platform database.
  6. Expand the table in question.
  7. Right Click and execute the default Select * SQL query and locate the row which contains the host.
  8. Enable Table editing from the top of Database Manager.
  9. Highlight the row in question. Right-click and delete the selected row.
  10. Run the default query again and verify that the row has been deleted.
  11. Start the SolarWinds Services on the SolarWinds Platform Service Manager.
