Delete Stale Discovery profiles in Active Diagnostics

This article will show you how to get rid of the "Stale Discovery Profile" warning on the active diagnostics and regain access back to your old Network Discovery Profiles.

Overview

Running the Active Diagnostics shows the issue below:

Status: Warning
Resolution: The discovery profile references a polling engine (Engine ID) that is no longer available and was removed from your Orion Platform product. Please edit discovery profile that failed, select existing Polling Engine and save the profile. See KB: MT85215.

Resolution

The 3 methods

A. Web console method (Deletion)
1. Log into the Orion web console
2. Go to "Settings" then "Network Discovery"
3. Delete the old network discovery profiles

B. Database method 
0. Database backup is recommended before attempting
1. Run Orion Database Manager as admin
2. Open 2 tables (Engines and DiscoveryProfiles)
3. Run default tables in both
4. Compare the EngineID column on both tables
5. Any EngineID in the discovery profiles table that does not also exist in the Engines table must be either deleted or edited by enabling the "Enable Table Editing" option
6. Either update the EngineID to match an existing EngineID in the Engines table, or select the row and hit the delete key

C. SQL script method 
1. Follow steps 0-4 in Method B
2. Select and edit the best template for your needs

 

This method will change all Discovery Profiles to EngineID 2

This method will delete all Discovery profiles where EngineID does not equal 2

This method will delete all Discovery profiles where EngineID equals 2

This method will change all Discovery profiles to EngineID 2 if they are EngineID 1,3 or 4

SET EngineID = 2
WHERE EngineID not in (1,3,4)
