When you install Patch Manager, the following database error displays in the Patch Manager Configuration Wizard:

Database Validation Failed! Database presented on the selected instance is used
for another installation of Patch Manager. Please select different SQL instance.

Product section

Patch Manager

Cause

  • Trying to do a fresh install of SPM and pointing to an existing Eminentware DB which is not a supported scenario.

Resolution

Perform one of the following procedures:

  • For new installations, remove the EminentWare database and run the installer again.
  • Select a different SQL instance that does not have an installed EminentWare database. You can accomplish this task in multiple Patch Manager installation environments using Primary Application Servers (PAS) and Automation Servers.
  • If you are doing an upgrade and had to uninstall old version and install new version. Then make sure to use the Advanced Install method and point to the Existing PM DB instance during SPM config wizard.
