Dashboard overview breadcrumbs missing after upgrade to SolarWinds Platform 2026.2

After upgrading to 2026.2, the dashboard overview no longer displays the expected breadcrumb path (location, floor, room, etc.) when drilling down from the Home Summary / overview widgets. Instead, only the home icon and empty chevrons are shown.

Overview

In affected environments, when users navigate from the Home Summary (or dashboard overview) into an Entity Drilldown view (for example, by drilling into All Nodes), the breadcrumb bar at the top of the page does not show the full navigation path.

 

After the 2026.2 upgrade, the breadcrumb bar only shows the home icon and chevrons (Home > > >), but the individual levels (location, floor, room, etc.) are not rendered.

Cause

This behavior is caused by a UI regression in the Entity Drilldown widget breadcrumbs introduced in the 2026.2 release:

  • The breadcrumb component on the Entity Drilldown widget fails to render the individual hierarchy levels after drilling down from the Home Summary / overview widgets.
  • As a result, the control only renders the home icon and separators, but omits the actual labels (location, floor, room, etc.).

There is currently no indication that configuration, browser, or permissions cause this issue; it is a code defect in the web console UI.

Resolution

A fix for this issue is planned for a future release of the SolarWinds Platform. Watch this article for updates.

There is no direct UI toggle to restore the breadcrumb labels in 2026.2. However, the following options may help impacted users:

  • Use alternative navigation paths
  • Navigate to entities via the standard tree / menu navigation where available, instead of relying solely on the breadcrumb trail to move back up the hierarchy.
  • Use search and filtering on the overview

When the breadcrumb is not informative, use built‑in search and filtering options on the overview/dashboard widgets to quickly locate the desired location, floor, or room.
