Dameware Mini Remote Control crashes after upgrading to 12.3.2

This article describes a known crash issue in Dameware Mini Remote Control (DMRC) while launching the application after it has been upgraded.

Overview

Some Dameware themes like “Office 2007", "Visual Studio 2012 Dark" and "Visual Studio 2015" might not work with Windows 11 or Windows 10.
It is recommended to use Office 2003 or other themes for this OS.

Cause

Some theme in Dameware are not compatible with Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, please upgrade to Dameware 12.4 or later.  If an upgrade is not possible, please perform the steps below:

 

  1. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) on the affected machine with installed MRC 12.3.2.
  2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DameWare Development\Mini Remote Control\Settings.
  3. Double-click “Theme”, switch to “Decimal” view, change value to “4”, and click “OK”


  4. Close Registry Editor and launch MRC 12.3.2.
