Dameware: Issues due to revoked code-signing certificates
We have made the decision to digitally re-sign Dameware Remote Support (DRS) and Dameware Mini Remote Control (MRC); the existing certificate is currently scheduled to be revoked on March 8, 2021. Installation of affected versions of DRS and MRC may be forbidden by system policy. This article describes steps to address the possible issues in DRS and MRC.

Overview
To that end and to provide additional assurance to all of our customers, we have made the decision to digitally re-sign our products and have requested (and recieved) a new digital certificate. This reflects a recertification of the authenticity of SolarWinds products, both current and future.
What to expect next:
- We will be issuing new product releases for Dameware containing the updated certificate.
- The existing certificate is currently scheduled to be revoked on March 8, 2021.
- Users installing or reinstalling versions of Dameware DRS or MRC may be blocked by Windows from starting the installers.
- New users cannot install affected versions of Dameware DRS or MRC and may see an error that states, "This installation is forbidden by system policy," or similar.
- Users may receive pop-up notifications when opening applications.
- Remote installation of agent could be blocked.
- One-time internet sessions may either be blocked or may trigger an anti-virus alert.

If you are experiencing any of these issues, SolarWinds strongly recommends upgrading to the latest available version for Dameware. You can find the latest version of DRS or MRC in the customer portal. Please see the Dameware Upgrade Guide for upgrade instructions.
