Overview

These release notes apply to both Dameware Remote Support and Dameware Mini Remote Control 12.3 Hotfix 1. This hotfix requires that Dameware version 12.3.0.12 be installed. 

Note: Upon successful installation of Hotfix 1, you can verify that the hotfix was installed by opening Dameware v12.3 and selecting HELP > ABOUT. The Release version should read 12.3.0.42.

Resolution

These release notes apply to both Dameware Remote Support and Dameware Mini Remote Control 12.3 Hotfix 1. This hotfix requires Dameware version 12.3.0.12, available on the SolarWinds Customer Portal (https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/HotFixes).

 

Fixed issues  

This hotfix addresses the following issues in Dameware Mini Remote Control and Dameware Remote Support version 12.3.0.12: 

 

  • DRS may stop functioning when MRC agent is installed 

  • User unable to switch between monitors during MRC connection 

  • User unable to take screenshots during MRC connection 

  • Some themes in MRC and DRS appear blacked out 

  • User unable to change MRC agent language after upgrade 

 

This hotfix requires that Dameware Mini Remote Control or Dameware Remote Support version 12.3.0.12 be installed. 

This hotfix 1 package includes the following files:

  • Dameware Remote Support\x86\DWExporter.exe 

 

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x86\DWRCC.exe 

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x86\DWRCD.dll

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x86\DWRCChat.dll.x64 

 

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x64\DWRCC.exe

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x64\DWRCD.dll 

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x64\DWRCChat.dll 

  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x64\DWRCChat.dll.Win32 

 

Warning:  SolarWinds strongly recommends that you edit the files mentioned in this document only as instructed. Any additional modifications to these files may result in system performance issues or may cause an error. Back up any files before replacing to preserve your setup in case you encounter any issues while applying this hotfix.

Installation instructions

To install this hotfix on Dameware Remote Support:
 

  1. Close any Dameware applications that are running.
  2. Go to the Dameware Remote Support installation folder. The default path is as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Dameware Remote Support
  3. Back up the following files from the installation directory to a separate location: 
  • DNTU.exe
  • DWExporter.exe
  • DWRCC.exe
  • DWRCD.dll
  • DWRCChat.dll
  • DWRCChat.dll.x64
  1. Copy the contents of the following two folders from this hotfix into the Dameware Remote Support installation folder, replacing the original 12.3.0.12 version files: 
  • Dameware Remote Support\x86
  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x86
 

To install this hotfix on the Dameware Mini Remote Control x86 version:
 

  1. Close any Dameware applications that are running.
  2. Go to the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder. The default path is as follows: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Dameware Mini Remote Control
  3. Back up the following files from the installation directory to a separate location: 
  • DWRCC.exe
  • DWRCD.dll
  • DWRCChat.dll
  • DWRCChat.dll.x64
  1. Copy the contents of the following folder from this hotfix into the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder, replacing the original 12.3.0.12 version files: 
  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x86


To install this hotfix on the Dameware Mini Remote Control x64 version:
 

  1. Close any Dameware applications that are running.
  2. Go to the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder. The default path is as follows: C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Dameware Mini Remote Contro1 x64
  3. Back up the following files from the installation directory to a separate location: 
  • DWRCC.exe
  • DWRCD.dll
  • DWRCChat.dll
  • DWRCChat.dll.Win32
  1. Copy the contents of the following folder from this hotfix into the Dameware Mini Remote Control installation folder, replacing the original 12.3.0.12 version files: 
  • Dameware Mini Remote Control\x64
 

Uninstallation instructions

To uninstall this hotfix:
 

  1. Close any Dameware applications that are running.
  2. Copy the files from your backup folder to the Dameware installation folder you used in the previous steps, replacing hotfix files with the original 12.3.0.12 version files.
