This article describes the use of the Directory Size (DSIZ) FTP command.

Serv-U Managed File Transfer & Serv-U FTP Server

The DSIZ command is a more efficient method for clients to determine the total size of a directory and its subdirectories. When this command is issued to the server, Serv-U determines the size of the given directory and all subdirectories and returns the value to the client. The processing load is effectively taken up by the server, allowing the client to continue to work on the FTP server.
