DPA Find SQL functionality and Microsoft Defender

SolarWinds does not recommend creating an exception to prevent Microsoft Defender from scanning the folder that stores the Find SQL indexes.

Cause

In previous versions, the DPA installer provided the option to create an exception to prevent Microsoft Defender from scanning the folder that stores the Find SQL indexes. This was suggested to avoid spikes in CPU utilization.

For security purposes, SolarWinds no longer recommends creating an exception for the folder that stores DPA Find SQL indexes.

Resolution

If you experience spikes in CPU utilization related to Microsoft Defender, SolarWinds recommends upgrading to the most recent version of DPA.
