Custom poller query for reports and alerts
This article provides brief information on ways to get the SWQL queries to help create a report or an alert on a custom poller. You will need to generate queries in SWIS to apply them in the alert and reports.

Generating Queries:
You will need to generate queries in SWIS to apply them in the alert and reports. To do so, go to http://<SERVER NAME>/Orion/Admin/swis.aspx. and replace <SERVER NAME> with the correct IP or hostname for your environment.
The screenshot below shows the page for the Orion SWIS Query and will have a drop-down to select what is available. You can then select this and click Generate Select Query to see how these are created and then you can modify according to your needs.
Alert:
- Create a new alert.
- For Trigger condition, select Custom SWQL Alert (Advanced).
- Use the drop-down to see what queries are available from here. You can customize the query to achieve a certain type of alert. Please note the SELECT statement is generated automatically based on the item selected from the drop-down.
Report:
- Create a new report.
- For Selection Method, select Advanced Database Query (SQL, SWQL) and paste your query in the box:
- Apply the columns needed for the report.
