Create an alert when the interface critical threshold is reached in NPM

This is article describes how to create an alert when an interface has exceeded the set threshold for percent utilization.

When you want to create an alert for when an interface has exceeded the set threshold for percent utilization.

Resolution

  1. Go to Node Management, select the node and the interface, and then click Edit Properties.
  2. Go to Alerting Thresholds, and then click Override Orion General Thresholds. 
  3. Set the desired thresholds, and then click Submit. See Baselines and baseline calculations for NPM  for more information.
  4. Once the threshold is set, create an interface alert by using the following trigger conditions:
    • Interface > Critical Value Reached (Received Utilization) > is equal to > Yes
    • Interface > Threshold Name (Received Utilization) . is equal to > NPM.Interfaces.Stats.InPercentUtilization
