Create an alert for a node when the interface status changes to Down in Orion Platform

The following are the steps in creating an alert for the node's interfaces when the status changes to Down

Overview

This is an article on how-to create a custom alert for a down interfaces of a node. The real challenge would be creating a trigger condition - this will help everyone in creating the right alert for interface down.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console.
  2. Go to Settings > All Settings > Manage Alerts.
  3. Specify a name for your alert then proceed to Trigger conditions.
  4. Select "I want to alert on" - Interface.
  5. Create a scope of alert > Use Node > Node name > select or write the node caption/node name
  6. Set up the following trigger condition.  Use event > Status Has Changed (interface event)
  7. Choose the New Status is equal to Down (refer to the pic below)
                   
                    8. Proceed through the next steps and finish the alert just like the other alert.
