Overview

Create an alert based on conditions on traps being received by Orion.
 

  1. Setup devices to generate SNMP V3 Trap send the traps  to SolarWinds.

  2. Trap received by SolarWinds and can be viewed in Trap Viewer.

  3. Create an alert rule which reads these traps and the alert is triggered based on condition.

Resolution

  1. Open the Trap Viewer in C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\TrapViewer.exe.
  2. Click on the triangle to bring up the dialog Trap Server Settings.
  3. Go to Alerts / Filter rules > Add new rule.
  4. Under Alert Actions, Add Action - Send an Email / Page.
