Create a mail round-trip monitor to test external connectivity
This article provides the procedure to test your organization's mail connectivity from outside the organization using a third party service such as Gmail or Outlook.

For the example below, the POP3 User Experience Monitor is utilized, however, the steps should be the same when using any of the following component types:
- Exchange Web Services User Experience Monitor
- IMAP4 User Experience Monitor
- POP3 User Experience Monitor
- MAPI User Experience Monitor
Add the credentials for the external mail client into SAM
- Open the Orion Web Console.
- Go to Settings > SAM Settings > Credentials Library
- Add New Credential.
- Indicate the email address as the User Name and specify the password needed to login.
- Click Submit to save these Credentials.
To configure a New Template and the Monitor within it:
- Open the Orion Web Console.
- Go to Settings > SAM Settings >Create a New Template.
- Specify a Name for the Template.
- Add Component Monitor. For this example. the Exchange Web Services User Experience Monitor is utilized.
- Specify the External email (Gmail, Outlook) in the Send Email From section.
- For the SMTP Server, specify the SMTP Server of the External Client.
