Create a hardware sensor alert in the Orion Web Console

This article describes how to create a hardware sensor alert in the Orion Web Console. This works for fan speed, temperature, amps, voltages, etc.

Overview

This article will show how to create a Hardware Temperature Sensor Alert. But the same process can be followed to create an alert for fan speed/RPM, current of hardware in amperes, and voltage.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console.
  2. Click Settings > All Settings.
  3. Under Alerts & Reports, click Manage Alerts.
  4. In the Manage Alerts page, click Add New Alert.
  5. Complete the Add New Alert tab pages to create the new alert.
    When prompted, select the following settings:
    1. Click the drop-down menu and select Hardware Sensor (Node). 

    2. Set the alert scope to only choose objects where Hardware Sensor (Node) Hardware Type Name is equal to Temperature (or select the sensor type your require such as battery, CPU, disk, fan, power supply, etc).

      Feel free to add another scope if you need to set a specific temperature sensor you need to configure the alert.

    3. Set the trigger condition.
      For example, Hardware Sensor (Node) Status Description is equal to Critical.

  6. Complete the tab pages and save the alert.
