Create a NetPath alert on all redundant servers for latency and packet loss threhold

This article describes a workaround on how to create a NetPath alert if you need to be notified if latency and packet loss are encountered on all redundant servers. Notes: The thresholds in NetPath is the same for a single service. It is not possible to customize the path threshold that deviates from the threshold set to the service.

Overview

This article describes how to create a NetPath alert if you need to monitor a URL. The alert will trigger when the latency or packet loss threshold has exceeded on all redundant servers in the URL.

Notes:

  • The thresholds in NetPath is the same for a single service.
  • It is not possible to customize the path threshold that deviates from the threshold set to the service.

Resolution

  1. Go to the Orion Web Console> Dashboard > NetPath Services > Create New Service. Do this step for each redundant server.
  2. Modify the alerts.
    1. Go to Alerts & Activity > Alerts > Manage Alerts.
    2. Go to Advanced Options > Trigger Conditions, and then select Enable complex conditions. For example, Alert me when [application A on server X is down] AND [application B on server Y is down].
    3. Create separate trigger conditions that will alert at the same time when all redundant servers have packet loss or when the latency exceeds the set thresholds.
