Connecting to a remote machine using Dameware Remote Support returns error 1722
This article helps you troubleshoot an issue that prevents you from accessing a remote machine in Dameware Remote Support. When you try to access, the following error is displayed: Error 1722: The RPC server is unavailable in DRS.

Overview
In Dameware Remote Support (DRS), a machine shows a red Not Available icon, signifying that the machine cannot be reached or has not been identified in the network. You can connect to the machine using ping and Dameware Mini Remote Control (MRC).
The DRS and MRC services are installed. When you try to use certain DRS tools (such as Event Log, Printers, and Processes and Services) the tools time out. The DRS Information tab displays the following error:
Error: 1722 - The RPC server is unavailable.
When you open Services (service.msc), the RPC service is running.

- Go to the Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.
- In the left pane, click Change advanced sharing settings.
- Under Domain (current profile), select Turn on file and printer sharing.
- Save your changes.
- Close and relaunch DRS.
The red Not Available icon should be gone, and you should be able to access all tools that displayed Error 1722 in your last attempt.
