Resolution

  1. Open Network Performance Monitor.
  2. Click New and add the device IP.
  3. Click Next and enter the required SNMP String.
  4. Click Finish.
  5. On the Resources screen, click Select All Interfaces and click OK. You should now be monitoring all interfaces on that switch.
  6. Click Alerts > Configure Alerts > New Alert.
  7. On the General tab, assign a name to the new alert. SolarWinds recommends naming the alert High bandwidth.
  8. On the Property to Monitor tab, select Received Percent Utilization under the Interface Traffic section.
  9. On the Alert Trigger tab, set the desired thresholds to be alerted on.
  10. On the Actions tab, click Add Alert Action and add an Email Action with your email address.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Create the same alert for Transmit Percent Utilization.
