Resolution
Each transaction can be configured to use a proxy server if required.
To set a proxy server transaction
- Ensure that you do not have Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user) group policy enabled on the player machine.
- Run Gpedit.msc.
- In the left pane, expand Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components.
- Select Internet Explorer.
- In the right pane, double-click Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user).
- Select Not Configured and then click OK.
- Run GPUpdate /FORCE.
- Restart the WPM Playback Player service.
- Go to the Transaction edit page and expand the Advanced section.
- Provide a complete Proxy URL that uses the following format http://123.123.123.123:8080.
- Save the transaction.
Configuring a web proxy for the Player
If you do not want to define proxy per transactions, you can define it for the whole Player. Configure the web proxy in a supported browser and then change the computer settings to make the proxy settings per-machine instead of per-user. See Orion Web Console browser requirements.
To configure a web proxy for the Player:
- Run Gpedit.msc.
- In the left pane, expand Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components.
- Select Internet Explorer.
- In the right pane, double-click Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user).
- Select Enabled and click OK.
- Run GPUpdate /FORCE.
- Restart the WPM Playback Player service.
- Configure Internet Explorer to use a web proxy (Microsoft KB 135982) (© Microsoft 2018, available at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/, obtained on November 20, 2018).
If the proxy is defined “per-machine,” any setting that is defined “per-transaction” through the transaction edit page is ignored.
