How to Configure a Scheduled Task for Archiving Log Files in KSS NG

KSS NG enables you to utilize scheduled archive tasks to automatically move or compress log files according to a predefined schedule.

Resolution

  • From the KSS NG navigation bar, go to Setup > Schedules.

  • Click "Add scheduled task" to launch the Create Schedule wizard and enable the schedule, if required.

  • Enter a Task Name, select Archive, and click Next.

  • Configure the schedule frequency (minutes, hours, days, months, or years).

    • Add schedule exceptions if needed, then click Next.

  • Define the source log location (default:
    C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\KiwiSyslogService\logs) and select Include subfolders if required.

  • Specify the file mask and file size/age criteria, then click Next.

  • Choose the destination folder for archived logs (for example:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Kiwi Syslog Server NG\Archive).

  • Select whether to move or copy the files, then click Next.

  •  Enable ZIP compression and choose the compression level(Optional):

    • Fastest, Optimal, or Smallest size

    • Or select No Compression.

  • Click Create to complete setting up the schedule.
