Cause
Resolution
Resolution 1:
Increase the SQL Database connection timeout, as described in the following KB article.
Note: While a timeout of 1200 seconds (10 minutes) is possible, a timeout of 60 seconds (1 minute) is usually sufficient.
Orion to SQL server connection time out
Resolution 2:
- Attempt to create a new database instance on the same SQL Server.
- If the Configuration Wizard fails again with the new database, this indicates a performance issue with the SQL Server itself that needs to be addressed.
Resolution 3:
-
If creating a new database does not resolve the issue, check the SolarWinds Platform server and environment for potential causes:
- Cipher Limitations: Ensure no encryption or cipher restrictions are affecting connectivity.
- Antivirus or Security Software: Verify that antivirus or security software is not blocking required folders or processes.
- User Account: Confirm that the account running the Configuration Wizard is the same as the one used during the initial installation.
- Group Policy Objects (GPOs): Review any GPOs that might interfere with the Configuration Wizard or SQL connectivity.
If no issues are found after these checks, the next step is to uninstall and reinstall the SolarWinds Platform.Important:- Before uninstalling or reinstalling, collect SolarWinds Diagnostics logs and send them to SolarWinds Support for analysis.
- It is recommended to engage with SolarWinds Support before proceeding with uninstall/reinstall to ensure proper guidance.
