Test failing when trying to validate login details or NCM is not able to download configs from devices set to use Global values.

Cause

Global Device Defaults to be used in NCM have never been set and remaining blank. While engine attempts to substitute them with actual values due to values missing it substitutes them with their names listed below:

${GlobalUsername}
${GlobalPassword}
${GlobalEnableLevel}
${GlobalEnablePassword}
${GlobalTelnetPort} (less common)
${GlobalSSHPort} (less common)

Resolution

Click on "Show Macros" next to "Test" if the Global Values shown are not set you will need to:

  1. Login to the Webconosle
  2. Go to Settings > NCM Settings > Global Device Defaults
  3. Set the default global values relevant to the environment, these will be used for all the devices set to use Global settings
  4. Click SUBMIT
  5. Test failing functionality again
