Collector installation issues

Resolve an issue where you're unable to install SolarWinds Collector.

Overview

Unable to install SolarWinds Collector.

The same issue occurs after disabling UAC and restarting the server.

The following error occurs:

The SolarWinds Collector can only be installed on your main or additional poller.

Cause

The Collector Service was uninstalled or removed for some reason.

Resolution

Do the following steps to resolve the issue:

Backup Windows registry - refer to this Microsoft KB article (© 2018 Microsoft, Inc., available at https://support.microsoft.com/, obtained on Dec 14, 2018) for more information.
Click Start > Run.
Type regedit and hit Enter.
Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SolarWinds\Orion\Core.
Double click Configuration - REG_SZ and set it to FULL.
Click Ok.
Try to install the Collector again.
