This article describes an issue where ETS Config Tools throws the error < Transfer failed bad file name > on recently set up servers and workstations. This error occurs when TFTP is unable to communicate over UDP port 69 (e.g. due to firewall configuration).

Cause

This error occurs when TFTP is unable to communicate over UDP port 69 (e.g. due to firewall configuration).

Resolution

  1. Open port 69 (UDP) or add a firewall exception to allow communication over port 69 (UDP) for the TFTP server.
  2. Allow the configurations to be downloaded via this method.
