Cisco 3850 switches display incorrect temperature reading in NPM

This article addresses an issue that causes Cisco 3580 switches to display the incorrect temperature reading in the Orion Web Console.

Overview

While monitoring Cisco 3850 catalyst switches, the temperature displayed in the Orion Web Console does not match the temperature indicated within the device CLI reading.

Cause

  • Known bug in Cisco IOS versions 3.2.0SE
  • Incorrect MIB/OID used to monitor temperature

Resolution

Perform one of the following procedures:

  • Upgrade the Cisco 3850 switches to the latest firmware.
  • Check the preferred Cisco MIB in global settings. If it is set to CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB, change it to CISCO-ENVMOM-MIB.
