While there are alternative methods for setting the FIPS Local/Group Security Policy Flag, the following method is included as a guide to users with Administrative privileges. This description is for the Local Security Policy, but the Group Security Policy may be set in a similar manner.
- Click Run and enter
secpol.msc. - In the Local Security Policy management console window, go to Local Policies > Security Options.
- Scroll down to System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing in the right pane and check the value (Disabled by default) under the Security Setting column.
