Hardware Health for Cisco devices are being reportedly incorrectly for SolarWinds Platform

This article provides steps to force SolarWinds to use CISCO-ENVMON-MIB instead of CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB and vice versa.

Overview

When polling Cisco devices for Hardware health, SolarWinds Platform sometimes shows values that do not match what the device is reporting or are being reported incorrectly. Switching the preferred Cisco MIB for hardware health polling can resolve this issue.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform the steps below:

  1. In the SolarWinds Web Console, click All Settings > Settings
  2. Under Thresholds & Polling section, click Polling Settings
  3. Towards the bottom of this screen, find the section Hardware Health Polling
  4. From Preferred Cisco MIB drop-down list, select CISCO-ENVMON-MIBimage.png
  5. Click Submit

 

To make this change on a single node:

  1. In the SolarWinds Web Console, click All Settings > Settings
  2. Click Manage Nodes
  3. Find, and select the node in question
  4. Click Edit Properties
  5. Near the bottom of this screen, find the section Hardware Health Polling
  6. From Preferred Cisco MIB, click on the drop-down and select CISCO-ENVMON-MIBimage.png
  7. Click Submit
