Cause

User may want to change the location of SolarWinds logs due to Low capacity drive.

Resolution

SolarWinds uses the Windows %ALLUSERSPROFILE% to store its logs. This is not configurable within the SolarWinds environment because it is a Windows setting.

If you need to move the log file, you must change the Windows variable. This is a global Windows setting, like temp, windir, and others. Be aware that changing this setting will affect other applications outside of SolarWinds.

Microsoft does not recommend changing the location of ProgramData outside of test environments.

  • If you change the default location of the program-data folders to a volume other than the system volume, you cannot service your Windows image. Any updates, fixes, or service packs may not be applied to the installation.
See ProgramData for more information.
