Change the Custom Property name

Once created, the Custom Property name cannot be modified. This article describes how to change the Custom Property name by transferring its values to another (or new) Custom Property.

Note: Before removal make sure that old Custom Property is changed as well wherever it was referenced by name, i.e. Alerts.
 

  1. Log in to your Orion Web Console using an admin account.
  2. Go to Settings > Manage Customs Properties.
  3. Find and select the Custom Property name to be modified.
  4. Click Export and export to the file containing the set of unique identifiers, for example NodeID and the desired Custom Property.
  5. Create a new Custom Property.

    Note: Make sure that the Custom Property names do not use common terms found in the database such as router, engine, switch, IP and so on. 

  6. Go back to Manage Custom Properties.
  7. Click Import.
  8. Select the file and the relevant fields for matching.
  9. Select the exported Custom Property for import and from drop down, select the new property.
  10. After the import completes, remove the exported (old) Custom Property.
