Acknowledging alerts requires a physical user intervention. Auto-acknowledgement is possible only with third-party configuration, and is unsupported by SolarWinds. (Workarounds are possible.)

When an alert is triggered and becomes active, you can then acknowledge it. After an alert is acknowledged, alert actions in higher escalation levels are stopped. The time it was acknowledged and the account that acknowledged it are recorded. You can also add notes that other users can read.

Depending on your organization, alert acknowledgements can provide an audit trail and prevent multiple people from working on the same issue. Auto-acknowledgement is not a recommended procedure in most environments. If alerts are automatically acknowledged, it can be unclear whether a problem has been addressed.
