Backup And Restore Kiwi Syslog NG Rule Settings

Overview

There is no option to move ALL your configs from one machine to another. There is no option to back up all app configs (even after saving all files - settings will not be restored as it’s encrypted by a local certificate. ) 

However, it is possible to move \ restore Rules and their dependencies ( action and filters) configuration.

Resolution

  1. Stop KSS NG service
  2. Navigate to the Settings folder

  1. Back up the file SolarWinds.Kiwi.Syslog.RuleProcessing.Dal.RuleProcessingDefinitionsSettings.json
  2. Install \reinstall KSS NG
  3. Stop the service and replace the config file from backup.
  4. Run service again - all your previous Rules Rules ( action and filters) will be restored.
