Overview

Dell and HP servers cannot be monitored for specific hardware health metrics using WMI polling within SAM. Agent polling also does not work because it utilizes local WMI queries for polling.

Product section

Server Application Monitor

Cause

Dell and HP does not make array and hard disk health information from WMI managed node.

Resolution

You must utilize SNMP polling to capture the disk and array hardware health information when polling HP or Dell server.

How to change polling from agent or WMI to SNMP

  • Go to Edit Properties for the node.
  • Select SNMP polling method.
  • Enter community string information.
  • Submit the changes to save.

Note: This is due to Dell and HP being limited to providing hardware health via WMI. See the SAM Admin Guide  for more information.
