AppInsight for Exchange Configuration fails with a RemoteExecutableStarter error after upgrading to SolarWinds Platform 2025.2.1

Appinsight for Exchange cannot find the Configurator Executable, and it prevents the configuration from being completed.

Overview

After upgrading to version 2025.2.1, when clicking on Configure Exchange the following error displays:

Remote Configuration Failed
Remote Configuration was unsuccessful due to the following: Unable to access remote administrator share. see the log on SolarWinds Platform server:
([ALLUSERSPROFILE]\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\APM\RemoteExecutableStarter.log)

Or

Remote Configuration Failed
Remote Configuration was unsuccessful due to the following: The configurator executable was not found on the SolarWinds Platform Server. see the log on SolarWinds Platform server:
([ALLUSERSPROFILE]\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\APM\RemoteExecutableStarter.log)

 

This is specifically seen for a node polled via agent to which AppInsight for Exchange is assigned.

 

It results in an unknown state for Appinsight for Exchange.

Cause

This has been identified as a known issue in SolarWinds Platform 2025.2.1.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in 2025.4. Consider upgrading your environment. If you can't upgrade, use the workaround below:

Change the Node Polling method to WMI, run Exchange zero config, and then change back to Agent.
