AppInsight for SQL triggers alerts for unmanaged SQL databases in SAM. Unmanaged databases are triggering alerts. AppInsight SQL databases are unmanaged, receiving alerts on them being in a down state. Status Description, is not equal to, Unmanaged. Overview

AppInsight for SQL generates alerts for unmanaged databases. For example, if you set up an alert to trigger if any database is in an "online" status with a condition that only includes managed databases, alerts are created for unmanaged databases anyway.

Cause

When you "unmanage" a database in SAM, the Status and StatusDescripition values in the main database are updated, but the properties of a managed entity (for example, UnManaged or UnManageFrom) are not updated, as shown in the last row of the following example.

Due to this issue, AppInsight for SQL doesn't recognize that a database is unmanaged and triggers an alert for it.

Resolution

This issue will be addressed in a future SAM release. As an interim workaround, filter out unmanaged databases by changing the alerting property from

UnManaged=No
