The Top Tables for Database component in AppInsight for SQL displays the following error: No valid data was received. Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

The Top Tables for Database component in AppInsight for SQL displays the following error:

No valid data was received. Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Cause

A large table in one or more databases causes the query to pull information before the query timeout expires.

Resolution

  1. Open the Orion Web Console.
  2. Go to the AppInsight for SQL instance in question, and then click Edit Application Monitor.
  3. Find and expand Top Tables for Database.
  4. Click Override Template (next to Query Timeout).
  5. Update the value from 30 to 60 seconds.
  6. Click Submit.

There should be no errors in the next polling period.
