AppInsight for IIS: The WinRM client received an HTTP status of 502 from the remote WS-Management service

When attempting to run Automatic Configuration on AppInsight for IIS, the following error appears: Server Configuration Failed Detailed error information: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: The WinRM client received an HTTP status of 502 from the remote WS-Management service.

Overview

When attempting to run Automatic Configuration on AppInsight for IIS, the following error appears:

Server Configuration Failed

Detailed error information: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: The WinRM client received an HTTP status of 502 from the remote WS-Management service.

Cause

There is a proxy redirecting the traffic between the Orion Polling Engine and the IIS Server.

Resolution

Run the following command on the Orion Server and the IIS Server:
```
netsh winhttp show proxy
```
The following will be displayed:
Current WinHTTP proxy settings:
Direct access (no proxy server)
If it displays a Proxy, run the following command:
NOTE: This will remove all proxy settings from the server.
```
netsh winhttp reset proxy
```
Re-run the IIS Configuration.
