AppInsight configuration fails: WinRM cannot complete the operation. Verify that the specified computer name is valid

You are getting the following error when you trying to configure an AppInsight application: Connecting to remote server X.X.X.X failed with the following error message: WinRM cannot complete the operation. Verify that the specified computer name is valid, that the computer is accessible over the network, and that a firewall exception for the WinRM service is enabled and allows access from this computer.

Overview

The following error is received when you configure an AppInsight application:

Connecting to remote server X.X.X.X failed with the following error message: WinRM cannot complete the operation. Verify that the specified computer name is valid, that the computer is accessible over the network, and that a firewall exception for the WinRM service is enabled and allows access from this computer.

Cause

A firewall is blocking the connection.

Resolution

Add a firewall exception so port 5986 is not blocked between the Orion Server and the monitored server.

From SAM server make sure customer able to Telnet the target server 5986
