Overview

This article describes how to address a scenario where alerts may not reset.

For example, specific alerts may not reset despite the trigger condition no longer being true.

Cause

This issue occurs when an active alert is modified after it has been triggered and the triggered instance of the alert is effectively orphaned.

Resolution

  1. Confirm if the alert has been modified since the alert was triggered.
  2. Confirm that the triggered instance of the alert is no longer valid.
  3. If both 1 and 2 are true, clear the triggered instance of the alert that is incorrect by performing the following steps:
    1. Log in to the Orion Web Console as an Admin user or one that has alert management rights.
    2. Click on Settings in the upper right corner.
    3. Click on Manage Alerts.
    4. Click on Active Alerts.
    5. Select the affected alerts and click on Clear triggered instance of alert.

To avoid this issue, DISABLE the alert before modifying it and clear any triggered instances of the alert that have not been cleared automatically.

Also, you can re-create the alert action and then test it out after.
