Alert action failing, alert not sending emails. There are no current logs in the alerting service and actionsexecutionalert logs

Overview

Alert actions, such as email notifications stopped working.

There are no current logs in the alerting service and actionsexecutionalert logs.

Cause

The Alerting Service is failing.

Resolution

Open Configuration Wizard on the NPM server.
Select Services (not applicable if running Orion platform 2020.2.4 or higher)
In the page listing the services to repair deselect all except SolarWinds Alerting Service and SolarWinds Alerting Service v2.
Allow the wizard to complete.
Test the alerts again.
