Services are stopped, such as WPM, JMX and NetFlow after an upgrade to 2022.x/2023.x for Orion

The article briefly discusses the behavior noticed for specific services in Orion Service Manager, mainly WPM, JMX, and Netflow, after upgrading to the latest versions for Orion/HCO.

  • After the upgrade to HCO 2022.x or 2023.x and the user notices Orion services are stopped.

Orion Platform

Cause

This is expected behavior if the user does not have a License for the service that is stopped.
  • Netflow required a NTA license 
  • JMX requires a SAM license 
  • WPM requires a WPM license

Resolution

Confirm if you have licensed for the product via Setting > All settings > License manager. 
  • If you do not have a license then this is expected behavior.
  • If the issue exists when the License is in place then open a ticket with support.

In 2023.2 and above, Unlicensed services should now be hidden in both web version and SolarWinds Platform Service Manager app if we can find that they are unlicensed.
