Resolution

The Advanced Configuration step provides additional settings for your Capacity Planning report:

  • Resource Allocation Model: these settings are used for estimating the footprint of virtual machines. The Resource Allocation Model settings provide several models:
    • Conservative: this model uses the peak virtual machine resource usage. If you pick this option, you need to ensure there are sufficient resources for all VMs to operate at peak levels at the same time and without inconsistency.
    • Balanced: this model uses the 95th percentile of virtual machine resource usage measurements, and it balances VM performance and efficient resource allocation.
    • Aggressively Optimized: this model uses the 75th percentile virtual machine resource usage measurements. The model maximizes resource allocation, but may cause the VM performance to drop.
  • Failover Reservation: these settings are used to estimate the impact on performance when you remove hosts from the resource pool.
