- To launch the SolarWinds Log Adjuster from the Windows Start menu, click SolarWinds Orion > Log Adjuster.
You can also run the file at its default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\LogAdjuster. - Select the logs or services for which you want more details.
- In the Control drop-down, select the level required.
- DEBUG usually provides sufficient details. If you use VERBOSE, be sure to reset Log Adjuster to its default setting later to avoid disk space issues. See Optimize the database used by Orion Platform products.
- Adjust values for File size, # of files, and Reset after, as necessary.
- Click Apply.
- Recreate the issue, allow time for the issue to occur, and check the logs.
- When you have the required logs, open the Log Adjuster again.
- Click Reset to default and close the Log Adjuster.
- By default, log files are saved at C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs.
- As of Orion Platform 2017.3, the Log Adjuster resets the DEBUG level to default during the Database Maintenance, so you don't need to reset the log levels manually.
- LogAdjuster automatically updates values for size and the number of stored logs depending on the logging level.
Note: Options on the LogAdjuster are as follows
Reset to Default: This will revert the settings to settings default
Set to Default: This will make the changes permanent
Apply: This will apply the changes that were made
Close: This will close the application
Changes made will reset after a day as stated on the default Options, so if you want to make the change permanent, you need to click on set to default. However, if you set the log levels too high, this can cause the logs to generate at a faster rate and could take up a lot of space.
