Add a custom view to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console menu bar shortcut

This article describes the steps in adding a custom view to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console menu bar shortcut.

Overview

In order to add a custom view in the menu bar for NPM, it needed to be configured first in the Manage View of the SolarWinds Platform Web Console.

Resolution

  1. Go to Settings > All Settings > Manage Views > Select "NPM Summary" > Copy.
    This will create "Copy of NPM Summary" . Optionally, you can create a new view, by selecting NEW.
  2. Select Copy of NPM Summary and click Edit.
  3. Change the name of the view and then click Update.
  4. Click Edit under View Limitation. A defined limitation needs to be added.
  5. Select the limitation to apply to the view, and click Continue.
  6. Configure the limitation options, as necessary, and click Submit.
  7. Click Preview and copy the URL.

  8. Click Done.
  9. Go to Settings > All Settings > Customize Menu Bars.
  10. Under Admin, click Edit to customize the menu bars.
  11. Click Add and paste the previously copied URL.
  12. Provide a name and description of the view, and then click OK.
  13. Drag and drop the item into the Selected Items column. Click Submit.

  14. Return to your home page. Hover your mouse over My Dashboards to verify that the new view Copy of NPM Summary is included under "Home".
